Hi Steve:
I wanted to drop you a quick note to share with you how appreciative we are on the level of customer service we have received from Sumerset over the past month. Greg Baldwin has been amazing in his responsiveness and attention to detail. Even though we have made numerous changes, he has never once made us feel guilty about it and he has been extremely helpful in making design recommendations.
We then had an opportunity to work with Donna Hoffman this past week on designing a master shower and had a very similar experience. In addition to the shower, Donna reviewed our contract and proposed several additional up grades which we could not be happier with.
We seldom take the time to recognize those individuals that provide exceptional customer service on a daily basis but these two have given us an extremely positive outlook on our decision to build a custom Sumerset.
We hope you and your family are well.
Sincerely,
Gary Bell

We made it 2 hours up lake last weekend for the maiden voyage.
Thought you might enjoy these pictures, sorry the high res make the file size a bit big. We had several groups up the lake that had to stop by and check it out.
Thanks to all of you for your efforts, it is greatly appreciated.

Friday, May. 16 2008Dear Nancy:
Mary and I were happy to hear from you. I hope Sumerset Houseboats continue to be successful in the boating world. I have enclosed the survey I received from you. I would like to make the following comments:
I am starting today, May 16, 2008, and working through June 2007.
Kenny Roberts came on Monday, May 5, at 9:00 a.m. and left on Friday, May 9, at 12:00 noon. I am enclosing a list of items he and Greg Conklin worked through prior to his arrival and throughout the week. I would like to say first, that you have a highly skilled, diamond gem in Kenny. His attention to my concerns and his understanding of the Sumerset philosophy as well as his skills and abilities are unmatched in the boating industry. He listened, gave advice and he fixed everything wrong with my Sumerset Houseboat. Steve was right when he told me I would like Sumerset even better after I received the boat than before! Greg Conklin responded to my emails and phone calls concerning my problems. I would like to thank him and Tina for their full support.
In June of 2007 when I walked in the Sumerset building Alicia greeted us and made us feel like we wanted to be there. The next person we met was Greg Smith. He answered questions and of course did an excellent job promoting Sumerset Houseboats. During the next two weeks he called me with answers to all my questions. In fact, some of those days he was on vacation.
After looking and touring five other boat manufacturers, Mary and I made the decision to buy a Sumerset. That was when we met Greg Baldwin. Greg worked with me almost daily for four months. Looking up, checking, rechecking my questions and changes as we went through the Sumerset process. Greg’s work ethic and attention to detail makes him a total asset to your company. Thank you Greg!
Mary and Donna designed the interior; carpeting, furniture, window coverings, bedspreads… The oak interior that Mary and I chose along with the design made our houseboat look beautiful. Like everyone else we worked with, all phone calls and emails to Donna were returned promptly and professionally.
In summary, I would like to thank all of the people we dealt with. Your daily pictures on the Internet of the manufacturing process of our boat gave us a feeling that we were on the production line. There were at least a dozen of our friends following the process of construction. I would like to salute the men and women who built our boat. From sticks and metal and fiberglass a beautiful Sumerset Houseboat was created.
We are looking forward to spending the summer of 2008 and beyond on our boat!
With best wishes for continued success,
Mary and Dick Bosserman

Tuesday, Apr. 22 2008Johnny:
I would like for you to let Steve Lochmueller know –first of all, the boat is awesome. Secondly, the transport crew - Eddie Bell, Bobby Edwards, Paul Chaplin, Glenn Godsey and Dwight Baker, all worked their asses off getting the boat together and addressing each and every issue. Last, but not least, from the beginning what a big help you , Nancy and Donna were through out the process. I know what it’s like running a business (or should I say several businesses) and to have quality people like this is rare and very hard to come by.
Sincerely,
Doug Cooper

Johnny,
I know that Doug already sent a message about how pleased we are with the boat but I wanted to get my two cents in also.
The entire process from working with you and then Nancy and Donna was a pleasure. I want to especially thank Donna for helping with the rug choices. By the time I was to that point, I was finished making decisions. I am very pleased with the rugs—-they look great!
With the struggles with weather, etc I want to commend the transportation staff. They were professional during the entire process—and I’m sure they were frustrated with the wind and rain. After the boat was in the water and then in the dock, they continued to work even with all of us in their way—trying to move things in and asking them questions—they were all very polite, helpful and eager to address any questions.
Thanks again for everything!
Nancy Cooper

Dear Donna,
This note of thanks is to convey my appreciation for helping in the design of my houseboat. Without your patience and expertise, I would have never been able to accomplish so much in such as short time! I truly enjoyed working with you and hope to see you this summer when the houseboat is completed.
Thanks again,
Pam Diez

Re: RJ Corman Houseboat
Dear Steve,
Rick Corman suggested that I might come down to your plant last week with one of his best welders, Mr. J.J. Heckman. Mr. Heckman is an accomplished welder who has fabricated boat shells in Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. I personally have seen his skills on several projects, and believe him to be the best I have ever seen.
Mr. Heckman and I visited the plant on March 14, and I am pleased to report that both he and I were extremely impressed with the quality of all the welds on the aluminum hull. Aluminum is very susceptible to warpage with the heat applied in welding, and the spacing and penetration of all the welds showed immense knowledge and experience in the welding process.
I wanted to write to you to let you know how impressed Mr. Heckman and I were with the quality and workmanship we have seen to date. I would like to commend you on that quality, experience, and workmanship we have seen at Sumerset Houseboats.
Sincerely,
Brian D. Sawyer, AIA Architect

Monday, Mar. 3 2008Dear Steve and Team Sumerset,
I want to thank you and your wonderful team for making This is the Life… our dream come true… This was our second custom designed Sumerset and we knew before the delivery of our first houseboat that we wanted something even larger and more special… the anticipation builds from the design and construction phase including the eagerly awaited daily pictures on your website which are so much fun to view and to be able to watch the build progress without physically being there to the delivery… Enough can not be said about the maintenance team head by Greg Conklin for their hard work and dedication to insuring that every aspect of our home is in perfect condition with special thanks to Kenny and Bobby for all their help… And lastly to the Schwan Family and the Holiday Boat Sales staff without whom this dream would not have become a reality…
Please extend our words to your entire team and everyone at Holiday Boat Sales for a job well done!

Hi GREG,
We’re in Memphis for 10 days but I wanted to let you know how much we appreciated Kenny’s taking care of our punch list items before we left for Memphis. Once again we’re so fortunate to have such an extremely talented crew work on our boat. Kenny had all the answers to all our questions and found ways to correct those items rather than just putting off until a later date. We are very impressed with his very professional attitude. It is very apparent that he loves working for Sumerset and especially working with the customers. As I’ve said many times before, if there’s a better houseboat manufacturer than Sumerset I’d like to meet them! Thanks a million!
