SUPER SNOOP September 2005

September 30th, 2005 by Sumerset in Testimonials

For anyone that is thinking about getting a Sumerset please read our story. We got our first Sumerset on August 24th 1998 after having smaller boats for many years. The thought of buying a large houseboat was very scary at first but we wanted more room for all the family and friends to come to the lake. Our Sumerset was great and was more than we had expected (we did not have an opportunity to plan the boat). After buying our boat we went yearly to the Houseboat Shows in Kentucky looking at all the different boat companies, but Sumerset was always the best. Sumerset was much more superior to all the other boats that we looked at and decided in 2004 to sell our boat and get an new bigger one (we had a 65X16 WB). As we are on Lake Mead NV, they only allow up to 75’ so we were looking at buying an 18X75 and putting ours up for sale. Everyone wanted to buy our boat but they also wanted to take over our slip, as there were none available on Lake Mead to rent. After seven years our boat looked brand new and many of prospective buyers made offers for a few thousand less than we had originally paid for the boat. We decided that the loss of our slip would end our time on Lake Mead so we decided not to sell and just keep our boat. In April 2005 a man came to the marina with a check in hand wanting our boat right now. He said that it was the in the best condition of all the other boat he had looked. He wanted to move it to another lake and we could keep our slip. We sold our boat on April 12, 2005 for a few thousand less then we paid for it in 1997. “Boat less” we were on a plane en-route to Sumerset on April 29th to plan a new one. Since we were prior Sumerset owners we were given the royal treatment and September delivery date. Sumerset’s staff from the owner on down worked very well to get us what we wanted at a very fair price. Greg, Donna, Lin and the rest of the staff assisted us greatly on planning a new boat. They offered suggestion and improving the boat without a hard sell, and they made the whole experience great. On August 22, 2005 our boat was delivered to Lake Mead and lives up to Sumerset’s high standards. Our first cruise was over Labor Day with 16 of our family and friends on the boat and everything worked great. If your thinking about buying a boat with Sumerset you cannot go wrong, we recommend them highly. You can’t beat house boating from Sumerset for family and friends.
