SMOOTH SAILING: MARVAIR® AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM PROVES RIGHT CHOICE FOR LUXURY YACHT COMFORT
CORDELE, GA. — Even on a breezy lake, the summers in Southern Georgia are painfully hot and humid, particularly for those dressed up for formal occasions. So when the Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club launched a new luxury entertainment yacht, the Liberty Lady, the resort turned to Marvair, a division of Airxcel, Inc., for help.
The new 60-foot custom-built boat is the largest vessel ever launched on Lake Blackshear, and is the focal point of the resort’s brand-new marina. The Liberty Lady cruise boat will be available for private functions, including dinner cruises, corporate outings, weddings, birthday parties and other festive occasions. The Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club features an 18-hole, four-star rated golf course, 88 rooms and 10 lakeside cabins, plus 10,000 square feet of meeting and conference space. It is the premier vacation, retreat, and meeting facility in the region.
Coral Hospitality, the management company for the resort specifically asked for the boat builder, Sumerset Houseboats, to use a Marvair system. “We know Marvair’s reputation for quality and performance, and with our discriminating passengers, we simply can’t afford a failure,” said Bob Johnson, General Manager of The Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club. “We also were on a tight schedule and knew that Marvair could deliver the right unit on time to keep our project moving.”

To provide comfort during hot summer days on the luxury vessel, Marvair engineers provided the facility with a SeaMach unit that is specifically designed for marine applications. SeaMach packaged reverse cycle air conditioner provides both cooling and heating, critical for managing comfort and humidity for large groups in an enclosed space. The specialized control options available on the SeaMach unit were also important to properly manage temperature, because of the wide range of changing weather conditions the boat could encounter. The result: an affordable system that could be customized specially for this unique application.
