Sumerset Obtains Exclusive Rights to Install Fast-Dek Flooring

March 14th, 2005 by Sumerset in Company

Sumerset Houseboats has been granted exclusive distribution rights to Fast-Dek wood flooring for use in the houseboat industry, the Kentucky-based company announced.

“Sumerset Houseboats is continually pursuing unique opportunities to enhance our competitive advantage,” said Steve Lochmueller, President and CEO of Sumerset Houseboats. “Fast-Dek products offer the high quality and unique diversity we feel will enhance our customer’s experience.”

Fast-Dek is made of unique Amazonian Cherry or Andian Oak, recognized as the hardest woods found in the world. Fast-Dek is backed with a plastic foundation grid specifically engineered to withstand heavy weight and the outdoor climate conditions year round. Fast-Dek has earned the reputation as the most cost-effective way to instantly beautify a boat deck or Flybridge or build a beautiful wood deck on a home site.

The Fast-Dek design allows water and debris to fall through the spacing between the slats. This key design feature promotes greater ventilation and drainage, thus protecting the wood from the damaging effects of moisture. The Fast-Dek plastic foundation grid and slat spacing allows for ease in cleaning and it means the sections may be set in a parallel or checkered pattern.

“Fast-Dek is excited for the opportunity to work with Sumerset Houseboats in bringing to its customers the highest quality products,” said Fast-Dek’s Al Barrenechea, President and CEO. “Clearly, Sumerset is the leader in the houseboat industry, both in its construction quality and luxurious features. The sensational houseboats offered by Sumerset create a perfect match with our Fast-Dek product line.”

Sumerset Houseboats will begin installing Fast-Dek on boats currently in production. Sumerset is the industry’s oldest and largest manufacturer of aluminum hull houseboats. Fast-Dek, a division of Global Pathway in Atlanta, Ga., has been creating high quality wood products for more than 70 years.
